Captions and languages

Caption styles and fonts, the languages Everpop captions in, how to fix a word, and how to turn captions off.

Styles and fonts

Captions are timed to speech, word by word. There are 5 styles — Pop, Boxed, Minimal, Clean and Spotlight — and 6 curated fonts: Anton, Archivo Black, Bebas Neue, Bangers, Titan One and Passion One.

On Pro and Scale you can also upload your own brand font: a .ttf or .otf file up to 5 MB, in Settings.

Languages

Native captions in 9 languages — English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Bulgarian — and 90+ other spoken languages captioned in English.

Choose the spoken language under "Captions & headlines" when you start a render, or set a default in Settings:

  • English (auto-detect speech), the default: non-English speech is captioned in English, and the original audio stays.
  • English (speech is already English).
  • A language "(original)": captions stay in that language. Pick it only when the video is in that language, or captions come out sparse or wrong.

Translated captions follow whole phrases rather than single words.

Fixing a word

Open the clip in the editor and, where it is offered, use "Correct caption text" to fix a name or a phrase. Everpop renders a new draft; your spoken words and the caption timing stay the same. The first 3 re-renders of each clip are free, and each one after that uses one video from your monthly allowance. The editor comes with a plan.

Turning captions off

Switch "Burn-in captions" off in Settings for every render, use the captions switch when you start one render, or set Captions to Off in the editor for one clip. Everpop then adds no captions; any captions already in your video stay.
