1. Collect the actual video links
Open Verify and choose Whole campaign. Paste up to 50 unique YouTube video URLs, one per line. Watch links, youtu.be links and Shorts links work; channel handles and playlists do not. Check that each link belongs to the submission you are reviewing.
Duplicate links are counted once. Unrecognized text is ignored. If more than 50 valid unique links are found, the first 50 are checked and the result tells you to run the remainder separately. Unavailable videos are shown separately from the clips that could be read.
2. Read a worked example
These four clips are fictional. The numbers illustrate the checker’s current rules; they are not claims about any creator.
| Example | Public counts | Age | Likes / 1k | Comments / 1k | Avg. views / day | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Clip A | 50,000 views 500 likes · 25 comments | 10d | 10 | 0.5 | 5,000 | Consistent |
| Clip B | 100,000 views 100 likes · 5 comments | 5d | 1 | 0.05 | 20,000 | Suspicious |
| Clip C | 10,000 views 30 likes · 3 comments | 2d | 3 | 0.3 | 5,000 | Mixed |
| Clip D | 500 views 1 likes · 0 comments | 1d | 2 | 0 | 500 | Not enough data |
For Clip B: 100 likes ÷ 100,000 views × 1,000 = 1 like per 1,000 views. Five comments give 0.05 comments per 1,000 views. These low ratios trigger a review flag. They do not tell us who watched, where traffic came from or whether someone paid for views.
Its 20,000 average views per day is 100,000 total views ÷ 5 days. It does not mean the video received 20,000 views yesterday or that a spike was observed. For a video under one day old, the checker displays its current views as the daily figure.
3. Interpret the label with its limits
- Consistent
- At least one visible ratio reaches the checker’s higher threshold and neither visible ratio is below its review threshold. This does not certify genuine views or rule out manipulated engagement.
- Suspicious
- At least one visible ratio is below the review threshold. Ask the creator for context. Low engagement alone does not establish bought views or justify an accusation.
- Mixed
- The available ratios sit between the checker’s thresholds. Review comparable clips and the campaign’s agreed requirements; this is not a pass or fail.
- Not enough data
- The video has fewer than 1,000 views. Ratios from such a small sample are not used to assign the other three labels.
Current review thresholds are fewer than 2 likes or 0.2 comments per 1,000 views. Higher thresholds are at least 5 likes or 0.5 comments per 1,000 views. These are Everpop’s review heuristics, not universal YouTube benchmarks or probabilities of fraud. When likes are unavailable, the tier uses the comment ratio alone.
4. Request context before making a decision
- Review the clip itself and compare it with similar formats and audiences. A quiet niche or a feed audience can engage differently from subscribers.
- Check whether comments are disabled or counts are unavailable. A missing comment count is currently read as zero, which limits what a low-comment flag can tell you.
- Ask the creator to share relevant owner-side YouTube Analytics context, such as traffic sources or retention. The public checker cannot retrieve those from a pasted link.
- Record the video URL, the counts you reviewed and the creator’s explanation in your normal campaign workflow. Follow the campaign’s agreed rules and investigate discrepancies before approving or rejecting a submission.
A consistent result is not a guarantee. Purchased likes or comments can mask unusual view counts, and real viewers can leave little engagement. Repeated checks may return cached public counts for up to three hours.
Public counts and owner-side measurements
The YouTube Data API video resource supplies the public counters used by Verify. YouTube Analytics provides a separate, authorized reporting system for owners.
For eligible Shorts published with Everpop, Analytics receipts provide available measurements at 48 hours and 7 days. Those source-backed measurements add context; they do not certify every view as genuine. See the campaign-owner workflow for how those reports fit into a campaign.
