**To automate podcast clips with an AI agent, connect it to a clipping tool by MCP or API; on Everpop, agent access needs Pro or Scale. The agent can deliver or find each episode, steer clips to moments you name, post them after your explicit yes and read 48-hour and 7-day numbers for eligible YouTube Shorts.**

## How do I automate podcast clips to YouTube Shorts with an AI agent?

Each episode moves through four stages; the decisions stay yours.

| Stage | The agent | You |
|---|---|---|
| Deliver | Sends files up to 5 GB, or finds your upload | Answer the rights question; upload bigger files |
| Clip | Aims the cut at the moment you name | Decide if an extra run is worth another video |
| Publish (MCP) | Asks to post to exact destinations | Confirm each post |
| Measure | Pulls numbers for eligible YouTube Shorts | Decide what to change next |

To connect, add `https://everpop.app/api/mcp/mcp` in Claude or another MCP client (MCP is an [open-source standard for connecting AI applications to external systems](https://modelcontextprotocol.io/docs/getting-started/intro)), or use an API key from Everpop's studio for the REST API. If your chat app can't attach files, [upload the episode in Everpop's studio or a linked Drive folder](https://everpop.app/agents) and the agent finds it with `list_videos`. Two shows on two channels? Read the channel section first.

Hands-free posting needs no agent: on [Pro or Scale](https://everpop.app/pricing), [an Autopilot rule you switched on yourself](https://everpop.app/agents) can post clips from episodes you drop in a linked Drive folder, as our [podcast clip maker guide](/blog/podcast-clip-maker-turn-episodes-into-shorts) explains.

## Can an AI agent upload my podcast video?

Yes, as a video file: [MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV or M4V, up to 32 GB](https://everpop.app/agents). The agent sends up to 5 GB itself; larger files go through the browser uploader. A pasted YouTube link won't get an episode clipped: Everpop never downloads from YouTube, so the file always comes from you. Audio files (MP3, WAV, M4A) are [not accepted yet](https://everpop.app/podcast-to-shorts).

Recorded in Riverside, StreamYard or Zoom? Export a video file: Everpop has [no direct integration with those tools](https://everpop.app/podcast-to-shorts).

## Who is responsible for copyright when an agent uploads my podcast?

Under [Everpop's terms](https://everpop.app/terms), you are: anything done with your keys, including by an AI agent you authorize, counts as done by you, except activity from a security failure on Everpop's side or after you reported a compromise, and rights clearance is yours alone. YouTube's [copyright myths page](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2797449?hl=en) warns that even a few seconds used without permission may cause copyright issues. Before an agent uploads:

- Intro and outro music is yours, or licensed for clips as well as full episodes.
- A song a guest played, or a clip someone shared on air, is cleared or cut.
- Your agent asks you the rights question, as [Everpop's agent guide](https://everpop.app/skill.md) tells it to; if it ever answers for you, stop it.

## What if each of my podcast shows has its own YouTube channel?

Say your interview show and solo show each have a channel. With two or more working YouTube channels connected, a clip [can post to YouTube on the channel its episode came from, and no other](https://everpop.app/skill.md). Clips from an episode uploaded as a brand-new file can't go to YouTube at all. For each show:

1. Publish the episode on that show's channel.
2. Everpop spots it in its [at-least-daily check for new uploads](https://everpop.app/podcast-to-shorts). For an older episode, the agent can [register it from your own channel by URL](https://everpop.app/skill.md), which [records its metadata and downloads nothing](https://everpop.app/agents).
3. Attach your file to that episode so it [keeps its YouTube attribution](https://everpop.app/skill.md); an agent that sends files does this itself. If yours can't: with a linked Drive Finals folder, Everpop [ingests a detected episode on its own](https://everpop.app/skill.md); without one, it [emails you to upload the file](https://everpop.app/podcast-to-shorts); and a REST agent can hand you [that episode's own upload page](https://everpop.app/openapi.json).

## Can I tell an AI agent which podcast moments to clip?

Yes. The agent can aim the cut with ["an optional natural-language steer ('the most surprising moment')"](https://everpop.app/agents). Match it to the format: for a solo episode, *the clearest piece of advice*; for a panel, *the sharpest disagreement*; for the guest who won't stop telling stories, *the best story, ending on the punchline*.

[Everpop's pricing](https://everpop.app/pricing) counts each clip run as one video, and a deliberate second run on the same episode as another. [Clipping starts on its own](https://everpop.app/agents) when an upload finishes on an active plan, so tell the agent to hold that automatic cut (`renderMode: "manual"`, which [skips it](https://everpop.app/skill.md)) and steer the first run instead. If the episode already has clips, a steered run is that second run. A weekly show is four or five episodes a month: even with a second run on each, that's ten at most of Pro's [30 videos a month](https://everpop.app/podcast-to-shorts).

## Will an AI agent post my episode clips without my OK?

Not on its own. Over MCP, an agent's clips [stay drafts even with Autopilot on](https://everpop.app/skill.md) until you confirm a `publish_clip` call with exact destination ids; ask for this week's listener-question clip and it should show destinations, title, visibility and quality-check warnings, then wait for your yes, a step our [clipping API guide for AI agents](/blog/video-clipping-api-for-ai-agents) walks through. Eligible non-MCP renders (studio, Drive or REST uploads) [can follow your Autopilot settings](https://everpop.app/skill.md), and full auto makes [up to 5 YouTube auto-posts a day](https://everpop.app/pricing) without a per-post yes once your paid plan starts; TikTok gets an inbox draft, and going public [stays your tap](https://everpop.app/podcast-to-shorts).

## Can an AI agent see how my Shorts performed?

Yes, for eligible YouTube Shorts published through Everpop to a connected channel: your agent can [pull their 48-hour and 7-day YouTube Analytics numbers](https://everpop.app/skill.md); Reels and TikTok posts get no receipts. Ask it to line up 7-day receipts for interview episodes against solo ones, and treat a few Shorts per side as a hint, not a verdict. A window [not yet measured comes back null](https://everpop.app/skill.md), not zero, and Google [notes Analytics API data can differ from YouTube Studio's real-time numbers](https://developers.google.com/youtube/analytics/data_model).

## Frequently asked questions

### What if my monthly videos run out mid-season?

The agent can still upload the episode and Everpop keeps the file safe, but a clip request is refused while the monthly allowance is used up; per Everpop's agent guide, the agent should tell you how many videos you've used, your limit and when it resets.

### Does a two-hour episode use more of my allowance when an agent runs it?

No: plans count source videos, not minutes, so a two-hour episode is one video off your monthly allowance, per Everpop's podcast page.

### Can the agent schedule a Short instead of posting it right away?

Not through the publish call, which has no schedule field in Everpop's API spec; Everpop's podcast page says you can schedule YouTube Shorts up to a week ahead yourself.

### How do I take an agent off the job?

Revoke its API key or its OAuth tokens, both revocable per Everpop's agents page and agent guide, then check your Autopilot settings separately.
